Thys Groesbeek's Poems

Versus
By Thys Groesbeek
Winds brush against the man made structures that cripple the lines of our globe.
Every now and then, waters rush along an ancient path.
The old lady, mother earth, shakes her body from time to time; volcanoes blow off some steam.
Natural disasters; where the ancient elements disturb our mortal ways.

I envy those that look at this existence and forget that it spans further than their lifetime.
Just like ancient waters and fire; there lay forgotten principles and concepts in this day.
Just how much good of yesterday has been covered up by the imperfections of today?
When will that rumble come; and when will the fire blow?

This world was created as a pure beauty; naked and open as it is with any admirable art.
We have come, raised high towers stretching higher than a tree; scratching the belly of a cloud.
The plains in Africa carry thousands of wildebeest; while canyons lay behind the winds and waters of yesteryear.
We will get across them; we will get through them, for roads, tunnels and bridges we will build.

We can not regress back to what we were thousands of years ago; for we are different now.
Man is likely to out survive this planet and any other species on it.
Our survival grows better as we press on other things to cease; replacing it with what we need.
Sounds silly and careless, but… man must survive; and this is the only way they have ever known how.
