South African

On the streets, in the cities of South Africa; walk the forgotten children of yesterday.
The effect of suppression has drawn their shoulders to the soil of the land they once owned.
Empower them; give them the opportunity to reach for their dreams, where shall we find the tools?
How does one correct the crimes committed in a time before me?

I dream of a time where all will stand alongside each other; upright, validated and proud.
Oh South Africa; my dear land, call your children together; unite and urge forward to gain control.
Children, close your eyes; become aware of the greatness you possess inside.
Let your spirit run with the cheetah, rule with the lion; share the greatness of our land.

I have let my spirit roam across the valleys, hills and cities of this great place.
What a beautiful land I found?
I have seen a people that realise progress has got nothing to do with the past, but to learn from it.
Know who you are; you are South Africans.

The greatness of this people, lays not in the wars they have won.
They are great, because they prevented war; when there was enough reason to fight and kill.

Now I stand before this great nation, a people to adore; how do we catch up with the time we’ve lost?
How do we educate a nation; bring them to empower themselves?
