There are
many viewpoints from which anything can be viewed;
studied. Smaller objects are easier and most average to view from 6 points. There is North, South, West, East, Top and Bottom. Even here one could easily forget the aspects of inside and out. It becomes more complicated; once this theory is applied to the likes of life, love and religion. Everyone I have ever met has got some theory, philosophy or at least an opinion on one of these matters. What my viewpoint on these matters is is of no importance here; rather to acknowledge that this multiple viewpoints exist. The next thing to acknowledge is that our “opinion” of something is affected by experience, doctrine or lack there of. Based on that love could be; good, bad, sad, something to be careful of, or something to be avoided completely. How would a girl, who was sexually molested by her father for all of her young life; explain what love is? Her viewpoint of love is not incorrect; that is what is real to her. She is not just viewing it from an angle we aren’t, truth is that the association with love is misunderstood. Most I am sure, will say this is not love, it is sick and I agree; but to them, the only concept of “love”. Maybe, this was a lousy example; I suppose there could be a right and wrong way to view things? So… who decides what is right and what is wrong? Important thing, see here is where moral code and religion comes in. It is the reality that most of the existing thinking beings agree upon; with the help of the court, government and church. Important factor to consider when one search for the “right” view point to have; “what is true?” What does society say about the matter; “who says it is true?” Where is the source point of the viewpoint and is there verified factual records; “is it really true?” Reality is; what most beings agree upon might not be the right viewpoint, but it surely will be accepted. So, if I can convince a whole country that it is okay to execute a woman for adultery; but that polygamy is okay for the men, it will be okay. Sound insane hey; but guess what, that is how we are running our world; especially with democracy in place. Despite whether all agree on matters or not; what is really right and wrong is removed from this “vote”. What happed to true moral values? It is easy to agree continuously that one should not murder another (unless it is justified by those who govern, ha…ha…ha); but what about something more subtle, like sexual orientation; right or wrong? Is mankind doing better or worse at surviving; right versus wrong? That seams a saner base to compare our moral values against. Apply this and I expect you will find many things, once thought of as okay, to be very-very wrong. How much murder, mutilation and suppression have we “Okayed?” |
