We all have
an opinion on life; we have our own faith, religion and
these we express. There is nothing extraordinary about this, since it is common practice. Though unjust, we judge people and their behaviour according to our values; also a very common practice. Just as common, we do not live up to the very values we expect others to adhere to. Someone I love described this phenomenon best as “Lip Service”; saying one thing, but doing another. This is most obvious to observe in those groups that publicly announce their beliefs and values. Even more so if one carries two personalities, one for the week and another for a Sunday. What is it with the hypocritical nature of mankind, for I am counted with the guilty ones too? There is a very good purpose for having values, rules and beliefs; despite our inability to follow them. We need an ideal picture; something to measure our progress enroute to our goal of living a perfect life. Yet, we will utter our viewpoints on hypocrites with ease; discounting our contribution to this large group. Oh! What is the point of communicating sense in a senseless world? The very reason why we are so tangled up in the simplest aspects of life is because we do not care. Wait! We do care; about ourselves only and everybody else’s needs is ignored unless… it serves our needs. There is no real consideration for how things are supposed to function and the purpose of it. I really envy those not inundated by pondering on these things; I fail to understand how it is even possible. I try to make sense of things and then attempt to communicate my findings with others. Surely that means something; the attempt to correct things and educate man about a better way. Its purpose is to be a guide; a map to steer us in a direction towards a better life for all. Observation and deduction have convinced me that mankind really does not want to change or be sane. I do not have a problem with the lip-service thing; I find it very sane beneath its superficial appearance. With rules and values in place, we merely fail to obey them some of the time; without it, it is condoned. Without religion and law our existence will be in mayhem; or no existence at all. So from hereon out; my goal, a new value for me to strive to, is to permit people to have idealistic values and goals. |
