Keep the Faith

There is a life time behind me with reference to that which formed me as a being.
One needs something there to have solid foundation; something or “Someone” you believe in.
How does one separate one’s rearing from ones belief; faith?
Surely there is a large part that was imprinted from childhood to build the person today.

We all have something to say about religion… not?
Then there are issues like interracial marriage, same gender relations and many more just like that.
Have you formed an opinion on these matters yet?
Surely you will consider what you have heard, have been taught, what others say and… what you believe.

The strongest influence on your decisions will be your faith; what will God say about it?

It is here where things get chaotic; for everyone has their own interpretation of the Word.
Nothing wrong with that, its contents were meant to be a guideline for you and me to live by.
It is here where the biggest rivalry of all time takes place, interpretation.
What does the Word say versus what others say and you say; then, what it really say.

I am not going into a theological debate on the matter, but will rest at interpretation.
Faith is about the trust one place in a super-being; something greater than us.
Some believe in a god, while others count their lucky stars; that’s belief, not faith.
Faith is the foremost factor that directs our decisions one or the other way.

You can not separate faith and belief from each other, they are a couple; life partners.
While with faith it is in whom we trust and with belief it is what the values of the faith is.
Regardless of what our faith and belief systems are; surely that is what we will be judged on.
What do you and I do to make sure that it is not purely something we inherited from our folks?

Many have faith in something without much responsibility; you might land up in my hell, without knowing it was there.
We are so afraid to challenge our values that are passed on that unworkable and untrue values linger around.
How responsible is that; playing around with your eternal existence by not investigating the facts?
I have more respect for someone that has a personal opinion of faith and religion, than a copycat believer.

I may have extraordinary, unusual values and “questionable” faith, but I will face God and people on that.
I believe in a God and my faith runs parallel to that belief; values are aligned to my interpretation of its doctrine.
My personality and viewpoint are sculpted to fit into the values I follow.
I am content in myself and my God; but I do bump against this broken existence… Faith will pull me through.
