Somewhere
between contentment and resentment I reside. At best of times I laugh, joke, love and play. I undertake life with enthusiasm to extract from it remembrance for my old day. Experience becomes the objective of my day. It is people around me that interest me most. The way in which the act and interact; a spectacle for my delight. Each factor offered to the play transforms the plot to swing a new way. Are we just pawns on the board pushed around by greater beings than we? Just how insignificant are we? Lives role in at birth and fades to the grave; just how long does that essence stay? We consider our genealogy without remembrance to the people in it. What impact have we made; is there any legacy left behind? Some can be excluded from this statement, but may have invented the wheel. Consider the ratios; see that it is just a fraction that makes it to the history books. What is the purpose of this mysterious existence? I am afraid that the answer is far too harsh for most to face. As humans we are not capable to honour continuously the significance of another’s life. Yet… we do expect to be remembered until the expiry of mankind. My thoughts on paper are my attempt to be remembered until then. Still; my remembrance of my ancestors is restricted to a generation or two. What genius has been lost this way; what wisdom unrecorded for today? Poet’s craft of word have slowly crept to a loft or worse the dustbin; corroding away! This is how we remember; we remember to through a life time away. I am not excluded from this occurrence; still it does not make it okay. I have learnt enough in this lifetime to know that my words won’t change this. And; I expect that I will remain uneducated about my great ancestors. Things will not change; people are far too busy with their futile attempts at a legacy. More than likely they will be forgotten all the same. Here is to life… and the useless things we do; just to be forgotten. Let’s life to the fullest and ignore to probability that it is in vain. Let’s discipline our children so they can do the opposite to theirs. Let’s laugh, joke, love and play; pretending that we’ll be remembered. |
