Friends

When I think about friendship, an idealistic picture fills my mind.
It would have to be someone that knows me; well enough to call my bluff.
It must be someone that is close to me, somebody I can love.
Such a friend must be someone, who loves me without reason to do so.
Will you let me know when I have misunderstood something that was said?
Will you be the one to tell me when I have taken something too far?
Just like you, I need someone to report my ethics; feel free to tell me I was wrong.
There will be times when tears role down my cheeks; when a friend is needed to care.
When there are times when we are taken advantage of; may I spread some toys?
How can I have all these things in a single friend; only with you can this be true.

I like to believe that I am that which I require from others.
It would be grand if I could be a little more.
I want to be there in laughter; wash your feet when they are weary.
I searched my heart and found you near the core of it.
I think that it is the best spot to place my love for you.
How can my day go by, without devoting a thought to you?
You are special to me and I am sure for many more.
I have to restrain my eyes from watering when I think of how much I care for you.
Say you’ll be my friend for always; that I may care for you even for just one more day.
I will be there for you always, even when you have forgotten what good friends we are.

The meaning of friendship is in sharing; time, joy and sorrow.
It is a complicated relationship that is shared in simplicity; something that feels, right!
Today we share a happy time and laughter; but we can both remember sharing pain.
I will always love you; just for being a true friend.
