Choice

I have observed for so long, but now (at least) I think I understand.
I dwell on, why “choice” or free will is the most precious thing we have.
Something so unnoticeably significant and something so few understand.
Is it the core of setting oneself free from the things that binds us in this life?

We determine whether we follow God, or any of the gods we’ve made up.
We can opt to throw our riches at idols.
We can select when to come, when to go and where to.
We can decide to believe or to disregard any situation we are confronted with.

I see how each day presents us with options; known and unknown.
I’m now aware about that split second available, to decide; before you tear the other down.
I realise that we favour returning home every night.
It’s by determination we get up and face another challenging day.

In the times which are “unbearable”, we allow it to bring us down.
We give the “okay”, to the ones who try to suppress our progress.
An unhappy and unpleasant day has its power in the fact that we think we can not will it other wise.
Can’t you see; we choose to be miserable instead of finding the solution to “the why.”

It is by our choices, good or bad, others judge who we are.
It is in the time we take to reach a decision in which we are deemed capable or not.
The freedom in this gift, gives us the power to succeed or fade.
My word! We even make a selection whether to love or hate.

So, when someone rules your life; that is a situation you surrendered to at some stage.
If your partner is at home, and you feel it is not worth much, remember; he settled to be with you, at least!
When your teenager listens to music that raises the dead; know that this can be done on the street.
Anyone has the option to be somewhere else.

Now it is clear that life has got allot to do with the choices we make.
Each good gesture indicates someone willing to be kind.
Upset, possibly the result of a good intention gone bad.
Consider all of this in the split second you have; just before you get mad.
