A Silent Love

I have looked at you so many times.
            With each glance I see more of you.
I try to comprehend, what makes you so unique.
            “What makes you so desirable?”

If it was just your beauty,
                        it would simply not be enough.
You captivate my thoughts
            and dominate my dreams.

Your essence lingers with me
            every minute of the day.
Your image is always close by,
            but you’ll never be mine.

Is this an obsession?
            Maybe it is.
You are so dear to me
            that I would not be embarrassed if it was.

If my thoughts about you where merely sexual,
                        I would be so ashamed that I would fade.
It is about whom you are
            and the way in which you care.

You have learned how to make me smile;
            intrigued me with your wit.
I have seen your innocence
                        in the way you try to hide your affection.

You have become part of me,
                        a constant reminder of this life.
Remain as you are.
            Never go too far.

Remember my smile,
            and enjoy this life.
We will remain apart,
            but know each other’s hart.
